One end or both?
This is the distinction that matters most and the one listings blur. Some mounts are a complete frame: both hanging points come off the vehicle, so you need nothing else. Others give you one anchor and you find the second yourself — a tree, a post, a second vehicle. The Hammaka models are self-contained frames; read carefully before assuming any given mount is.

Hitch class, and what your vehicle can take
- A 2-inch receiver is the requirement. Every mount here specifies it. A 1.25-inch receiver, common on smaller cars, rules this category out.
- Class III and IV are named by the CROSSHIP and KOJEM listings — that is a truck or a large SUV, not a compact crossover.
- The load is cantilevered. A hammock mount hangs weight well behind the receiver, which is a different load case from towing. Your hitch's tongue weight rating is the number that matters, not its towing rating.
- Nothing here is a roof or a tailgate mount. These bolt into the receiver and nowhere else.
Practical things nobody mentions

- It blocks the tailgate. Loading gear and using the hammock are not simultaneous activities.
- Exhaust and hot metal are right there. Set up after the engine has cooled, and mind where the hammock's end sits.
