For most hammocks, the ENO Guardian is the default add-on net — 360-degree cover, a vertical zip door and interior gear loops. It fits all ENO hammocks except the Sky-series, DayLoft and SuperNest. Alternatively, buy a hammock with the net built in.

OutdoorGearLab puts the Warbonnet Original Blackbird — hammock, bug net and suspension together — at 26 oz, which is a good benchmark for how little an integrated system can weigh.
Entry design matters more than mesh
Every net on the market keeps mosquitoes out. What separates them is how you get in and out in the dark. The ENO Guardian uses a vertical zipper door, which is much easier to manage than the bottom-entry designs some cheaper nets use, and it adds interior gear loops so a headlamp and a phone are not on the ground.
The Hennessy Ultralite Backpacker Asym Zip takes the opposite approach with an asymmetric zip integrated into the hammock body — Treeline Review names it their best pick with a mosquito net. It takes some getting used to and is very efficient once it clicks.
Compatibility, specifically
Getting the most from a net
- Hang the net on the hammock's own suspension where the design allows, so it moves with you rather than pulling against the tarp.
- Keep the mesh off your skin. Mosquitoes bite through mesh pressed flat against you — a ridgeline lifting the net clear solves this.
- Close it before dusk, not after. An open net at sunset collects everything you were trying to exclude.
- Stuff sacks matter. Fine mesh snags; a dedicated sack extends its life considerably.
What a net does not do
It does not keep rain off — you need a tarp — and it does nothing about cold underneath you, which needs an underquilt. A hammock, a net, a tarp and insulation is the complete set; anything less leaves a gap that shows up at 3 am.

Common questions
Do I need a bug net for a hammock?
Anywhere with mosquitoes or midges, yes. A hammock leaves you exposed on all sides with no ground sheet or walls, so there is nothing else between you and the insects.
Will an ENO bug net fit my hammock?
The ENO Guardian fits all ENO hammocks except the Sky-series, DayLoft and SuperNest, and generally fits other gathered-end hammocks of similar size. It will not fit a spreader-bar hammock — the geometry is wrong.
Are integrated bug nets better?
They are lighter and always fit, which is why they dominate among people who hammock camp often. The trade is that you carry the net on bug-free nights and cannot replace it independently if it tears.
Can mosquitoes bite through a hammock bug net?
Not through the mesh itself, but they can bite through mesh that is pressed flat against your skin. Keeping the net lifted clear — usually with a ridgeline — is what stops it.
