DD Hammocks Review
DD sells the most complete hammock in the box of any brand we track: net, poles, 10 meters of webbing and a stuff sack. The catch is a weight limit that has not moved in years.

DD Hammocks is worth buying for one reason: completeness. The Frontline arrives as a double-layered hammock with the mosquito net sewn in, two spreader poles, 10 m of webbing already fitted and a stuff sack. Buy the standard Frontline if you are under 6 ft 5 in and 125 kg, the KING Size if you are not, and the DD Tarp 3x3 whichever hammock you own.
Part of our camping hammocks hub. DD Hammocks is a British maker, and that matters to a US buyer in two ways: everything is published in metric, and the US Amazon listings are imports rather than domestic stock. Both of those are worth knowing before you order. What they do not change is the thing DD is actually good at, which is selling a hammock that needs nothing else bought alongside it.

How we judged this brand
- What is published. DD publishes flat size, packed size, weight, weight limit, fabric coating and an explicit user-height figure on its own product pages. That is more than most brands in this category disclose, and it is the reason a review like this can be specific.
- What arrives in the box. The single most common first-trip failure in hammock camping is arriving without suspension. We weighted inclusions heavily.
- Whether a US buyer can actually get it. Every pick on this page resolved to a live US Amazon listing with a current price through the site's price layer before it was allowed on here.
- Where the limits are. Honest cons on every pick, including the one that applies to the whole line.
The published numbers
| Model | Flat size | Weight limit | Weight | Packed size |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frontline Hammock | 2.7 x 1.4 m (about 8 ft 10 in x 4 ft 7 in) | 125 kg (about 275 lb) | 850 g (about 30 oz), hammock only | 28 x 17 x 12 cm |
| Frontline Hammock MC | 2.7 x 1.4 m, same bed as standard | 125 kg | Not published separately | Not published separately |
| Frontline Hammock KING Size | 3.2 x 1.7 m (about 10 ft 6 in x 5 ft 7 in) | 125 kg | 1250 g, excluding webbing and poles | 45 x 18 x 15 cm |
| DD Tarp 3x3 | 3 x 3 m (about 10 x 10 ft) | n/a | 790 g, excluding pegs and guy lines | 24 x 14 x 4 cm |
Read the weight-limit column down and the pattern is obvious: 125 kg, three times. DD sizes its hammocks up without rating them up. The KING Size is half a meter longer and 30 cm wider than the standard Frontline and carries exactly the same published limit, which is unusual — most makers raise the figure with the fabric. Treat 125 kg, roughly 275 lb, as a property of the brand rather than of the model.
1. A complete jungle hammock in one box
DD Hammocks Frontline Hammock, Olive Green
The hammock DD is known for: a double-layered bed with the mosquito net sewn in, spreader poles to hold the net off your face, and all 10 m of suspension webbing already fitted.
Specifications
- 2.7 m x 1.4 m (about 8 ft 10 in x 4 ft 7 in)
- DD states it is comfortable for people up to 6 ft 5 in and 125 kg (about 275 lb)
- 125 kg weight limit
- 850 g (about 30 oz) hammock only
- Packed 28 x 17 x 12 cm
- Breathable double-layered base with an ultra-fine built-in mesh mosquito net that zips closed
- 10 m of suspension webbing pre-fitted, 5 m each end
- Two 60 cm spreader poles and two 2 m elastics to hold the net up
- Four peg-out tabs per corner, four internal pockets, two internal hanging loops
- One year warranty against manufacturing faults
Source: ddhammocks.com Frontline Hammock product page, 2026. We publish specs we can attribute and leave the rest blank rather than assuming a typical value.
What it does well
- Net, webbing, poles and stuff sack are all in the box, which almost no hammock at this size manages
- The double layer takes a sleeping pad between the layers, so under-insulation has a cheap answer
- Peg-out tabs let you pitch it as a ground bivi when there are no trees
Where it falls short
- 125 kg is a lower limit than most US-market camping hammocks publish
- DD publishes metric only, and the US Amazon listing is an import rather than domestic stock
- The built-in net comes with you on bug-free nights

2. Tall campers and anyone who sprawls
DD Frontline Hammock KING Size
Half a meter longer and 30 cm wider than the standard Frontline, with longer spreader poles to match — the DD to buy if the standard one is the right idea at the wrong size.
Specifications
- 3.2 m x 1.7 m flat (about 10 ft 6 in x 5 ft 7 in)
- 125 kg weight limit
- 1250 g excluding webbing and poles
- Packed 45 x 18 x 15 cm
- Breathable double-layered design with a built-in ultra-fine mesh net
- Two 80 cm spreader poles, longer than the standard model's 60 cm
- Four internal pockets
- Includes 10 m webbing, two 1 m elastic cords, poles and stuff sack
Source: ddhammocks.com Frontline Hammock KING Size product page and spec sheet, 2026. We publish specs we can attribute and leave the rest blank rather than assuming a typical value.
What it does well
- 3.2 m of length is genuinely long — this is the one for a camper over six feet
- The 80 cm poles hold the net much further off your face than the standard Frontline's 60 cm
- Same complete-in-the-box approach as the rest of the Frontline line
Where it falls short
- The weight limit does not go up with the size — still 125 kg
- 1250 g before webbing and poles is heavy for a backpacking hammock
- Packed 45 cm long, which is a lot of pack real estate

3. The same hammock in camouflage
DD Hammocks Frontline Hammock MC
Identical to the standard Frontline on every published figure — the difference is the multicam print, which is the reason this is the variant bushcraft buyers ask for by name.
Specifications
- 2.7 m x 1.4 m, the same bed as the standard Frontline
- 125 kg weight limit
- Built-in ultra-fine mesh mosquito net
- Suspension webbing, spreader poles, elastics and stuff sack included
- Multicam print rather than a solid colorway
Source: ddhammocks.com Frontline Hammock MC listing and the US Amazon listing, 2026. We publish specs we can attribute and leave the rest blank rather than assuming a typical value.
What it does well
- No specification penalty for the camo — the published numbers match the Olive Green
- The print is the reason people pick it, and DD prints it properly rather than as a sticker-on pattern
Where it falls short
- Carries a premium over the solid colorway for a cosmetic difference
- Same 125 kg limit as the standard model
- Camo is a liability if you ever need to be found

4. The tarp DD is actually famous for
DD Hammocks DD Tarp 3x3
A 3 m square of 190T polyester with 19 attachment points and a 3,000 mm coating — the piece of DD kit that turns up at more camps than the hammocks do.
Specifications
- 3 m x 3 m (about 10 ft x 10 ft)
- 790 g excluding pegs and guy lines
- Packed 24 x 14 x 4 cm
- 190T polyester with a PU 3,000 mm waterproof coating and a taped central seam
- 19 reinforced attachment points: 16 around the sides and corners, 3 along the ridge
- UV50+ rated, which DD states blocks 98% of UVA and UVB
- Includes four pegs, guy lines and a stuff sack
Source: ddhammocks.com DD Tarp 3x3 product page and published spec sheet, 2026. We publish specs we can attribute and leave the rest blank rather than assuming a typical value.
What it does well
- A 3 m square pitches in more configurations than any shaped hammock tarp — diamond, A-frame, lean-to, ground shelter
- 19 attachment points is far more than a dedicated hammock tarp gives you
- 3,000 mm and a taped ridge seam is a genuine storm rating, not a shower rating
Where it falls short
- 790 g is heavy next to a silpoly hammock tarp of similar coverage
- A square is less efficient over a hammock than an asymmetric or hex cut — you carry fabric you are not using
- Polyester packs bulkier than silnylon or silpoly

The Frontline is the whole argument
Almost every camping hammock on this site is sold as a bed and nothing else. The ENO DoubleNest does not include straps. Grand Trunk states outright that tree straps are not included with the Skeeter Beeter Pro. The Frontline ships with 10 m of suspension webbing already fitted, 5 m at each end, plus two 60 cm spreader poles and two 2 m elastics to hold the net up off your face. You can take it out of the bag at a campsite and hang it, which sounds like a low bar until you have watched someone discover otherwise.
The double-layered base is the second real feature. Two layers of fabric form a sleeve you can slide a sleeping pad into, which solves hammock under-insulation without buying an underquilt. That is the same trick the Warbonnet Ridgerunner uses in its double-layer version, and it is the cheapest honest answer to a cold back — see underquilt vs sleeping pad for where the two approaches diverge.
Then there is the detailing: four peg-out tabs at each corner, four internal pockets, two internal hanging loops. The tabs are the interesting ones, because they let you stake the hammock to the ground and use it as a bivi when there are no trees. DD sells a separate Travel Hammock / Bivi built around that idea, but the Frontline will do it.
Where the 125 kg limit bites
This is the honest con that applies to the whole line, so it belongs in its own section rather than buried in a bullet. 125 kg is about 275 lb, and it is a low figure for a camping hammock in 2026. For comparison, the Wise Owl DoubleOwl publishes 500 lb on a 10 ft bed, and the Onewind Aerie 11 publishes 500 lb on an 11 ft one. DD's figure is less than half of those.
It matters most where you would least expect it — on the KING Size. Someone shopping a 3.2 m hammock is frequently shopping it because they are large, and that is exactly the buyer the 125 kg limit excludes. If you are near or over 275 lb, the DD line is not your line regardless of which size you pick; go to best camping hammocks for big guys, where every pick publishes both a weight limit and a height fit.
If you are comfortably under it, the limit is a non-issue and the rest of this page applies. And remember the limit is a property of the whole system: straps and hardware are often lower than the bed. That argument is on hammock weight limits.
The DD Tarp 3x3 is the thing to buy even if you skip the hammocks
Ask about DD in any camping forum and the tarp comes up before the hammocks do, and the specifications explain why. It is a 3 m square of 190T polyester with a PU 3,000 mm coating and a taped central seam, with 19 reinforced attachment points — 16 around the sides and corners and 3 along the ridge. DD rates the fabric UV50+ and states it blocks 98% of UVA and UVB. Pegs, guy lines and a stuff sack are in the bag.
Nineteen attachment points on a square is a fundamentally different proposition from a shaped hammock tarp. A hex or asymmetric tarp pitches one way well; a 3 m square pitches as a diamond over a hammock, an A-frame over a ground sleeper, a lean-to in wind, or a group shelter, and the tie-outs are there for all of it. The trade is efficiency: at 790 g it is heavy next to a silpoly hammock tarp of comparable coverage, and a square wastes fabric over a hammock because the corners are not where the rain is. Sizing arithmetic for the hammock-specific alternative is on what size tarp for hammock camping.
Buying DD in the US
Two practical notes. First, the listings are imports, so stock on any one colorway comes and goes — the MC camo pattern in particular is the variant people search for by name and the one most often gone. Second, DD offers a one year warranty against manufacturing faults, which is a real warranty but one administered from the UK; factor that into how you feel about a hammock you intend to abuse.
Price-wise the line sits in the mid range for a complete jungle hammock — more than a bare nylon gathered-end hammock, less than a Hennessy or a Warbonnet, and the comparison is fairer once you remember the DD figure includes the net and the suspension. The live figure for each pick is on its card above; we do not print one in the copy, because a number typed into a sentence is stale the day after it is written.
Who should buy DD, and who should not
- Buy the Frontline if you want one box to arrive and contain a working hammock, you are under about 275 lb, and a built-in net is a feature rather than dead weight.
- Buy the KING Size if the Frontline is the right idea and the wrong size — but only if you are still inside the same 125 kg limit.
- Buy the MC only if you want the camo. The published numbers are identical to the standard Frontline and it costs more.
- Buy the Tarp 3x3 almost regardless of what you sleep in. It is the most versatile shelter on this site.
- Skip DD if you are near 275 lb, if you count grams seriously, or if you want domestic warranty support. The alternatives are on best camping hammocks.
Common questions
Are DD Hammocks any good?
Yes, with one caveat. The Frontline is the most complete hammock in the box of any brand we track — net, two spreader poles, 10 m of fitted webbing and a stuff sack — and the DD Tarp 3x3 is excellent. The caveat is a 125 kg (about 275 lb) weight limit across the whole hammock line.
What is the DD Frontline hammock's weight limit?
125 kg, which is roughly 275 lb. DD states the standard Frontline is comfortable for people up to 6 ft 5 in and 125 kg. The KING Size is larger but carries the same 125 kg figure.
What size is the DD Frontline hammock?
2.7 m x 1.4 m flat, about 8 ft 10 in by 4 ft 7 in, packing to 28 x 17 x 12 cm at 850 g for the hammock alone. The KING Size is 3.2 m x 1.7 m and 1250 g excluding webbing and poles.
Does the DD Frontline come with straps?
Yes — 10 m of suspension webbing, 5 m at each end, already fitted. It also includes two 60 cm spreader poles for the net, two 2 m elastics and a stuff sack. That is unusual; most camping hammocks sell suspension separately.
Is the DD Tarp 3x3 waterproof?
DD publishes 190T polyester with a PU 3,000 mm coating and a taped central seam, which is a storm rating rather than a shower rating. It has 19 attachment points and DD rates the fabric UV50+.
Can you buy DD Hammocks in the US?
Yes. The Frontline, the Frontline MC, the Frontline KING Size and the DD Tarp 3x3 all have live US Amazon listings, which is what the buy links on this page resolve to. They are imports, so individual colorways go in and out of stock.
