Who we are

What we collect

When you use the contact form

We collect the name, email address and message you submit, plus a timestamp of when the form loaded and your IP address. The timestamp and IP address exist solely for spam prevention — they let us reject automated submissions and rate-limit abuse. The IP address is held in memory only, for at most an hour, and is not written to a database.

The message itself is delivered by email to a single inbox and is kept for as long as we need it to answer you.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people move through the site. This places cookies and collects a truncated IP address, device and browser information, and page-view data. We use it in aggregate — we do not try to identify individual visitors and we do not combine analytics with contact-form submissions.

You can opt out at the browser level using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or by blocking analytics scripts. The site works fully without them.

Affiliate links

Product links on this site route through our own /go/ path and then to Amazon. When you follow one, Amazon may set a cookie that attributes a subsequent purchase to us. We do not receive your name, address, payment details or the contents of your order — only aggregate reporting of whether purchases occurred. Amazon handles that data under its own privacy policy.

We also record an anonymous analytics event when a buy link is clicked, so we can see which recommendations people find useful. That event contains the page and the product, not anything about you.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
• We do not run advertising networks or behavioral ad tracking.
• We do not have accounts, logins or user profiles.
• We do not run a newsletter, so we hold no mailing list.
• We do not embed third-party social or comment widgets that would track you.

Cookies

The only cookies this site sets directly come from Google Analytics. Amazon may set its own cookies when you follow an affiliate link, under its own policy. Blocking cookies does not break any functionality here.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to how we use it. Email mike@blackironathletics.com and we will respond. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold is a contact-form message you sent us.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of the page changes with it. We do not refresh that date for cosmetic edits — the same rule we apply to content, set out in our editorial policy.
