The budget swings quote higher weight figures than the Joki. That is not the same as being suitable for a heavier child: a weight rating tells you about the fabric and the frame, and an age range tells you about the shape, the depth of the seat and how a child gets in and out of it.

Hanging a swing for a child
- Find the joist. A kids' swing sees more dynamic load than an adult chair, because children do not sit still. A drywall anchor is not the fixing for this.
- Check the height. LA SIESTA publishes 6 ft 7 in as the minimum for a Joki. Too high and the seat is out of reach; too low and there is no swing in it.
- Set the seat height deliberately. Low enough that they can get in unaided and put their feet down — and remember they will grow, so an adjustable rope is worth having.
- Clear the arc. Front, back and sides. A spinning nest reaches further than parents expect.

How high should a kids' swing hang?
