Tranquillo Hammock Stand Review
A 600 lb stand that folds, adjusts through three notches and publishes its footprint at both ends of the range. Very few stands in this category do all four.

The Tranquillo adjustable hammock stand is published at 600 lb in powder-coated alloy steel, adjustable from 100 x 28.3 x 29.25 in to 112.5 x 32.8 x 39.3 in, around 26 lb, collapsible, with ball-bearing pivots and a 30-second setup. Buy it for high capacity that still folds. Skip it if you want a backpacking frame.
Part of our hammock stands hub, and one of the two stands this site is asked about by name. We have not set one up ourselves — see how we pick — so what follows is the published specification plus the positioning Bob Vila gives the Tranquillo canvas set, each labelled.

The combination in that table is genuinely rare. Most 600 lb stands are fixed steel garden frames that arrive in a long box and never move again — the Arlmont 600 lb stand is the pattern. Most collapsible stands buy their portability with capacity, which is why the ENO Nomad publishes 300 lb. This one publishes both, at a weight a single adult can carry across a lawn.
The adjustable length is the reason to buy it
100 in to 112.5 in is a 12.5 in range, and that span covers the gap most buyers fall into. A standard 9 ft hammock wants about 100 in of frame. An 11 ft camping hammock, or a quilted double with its chains on, wants more. On a fixed 9 ft stand the longer hammock simply will not hang right, which is the single most common hammock-and-stand mismatch — the whole subject of are hammock stands universal and the hammock stand size guide.
The height range matters too, and gets less attention. 29.25 in to 39.3 in of frame height is what decides whether a gathered-end camping hammock clears the ground at all once it sags under load. A tall setting plus a short hammock is a usable chair; a low setting plus a long hammock is your backside on the grass.
Ball bearings, and what they are actually for
The listings make a point of the ball-bearing pivots and describe the rocking as noiseless. That is a comfort feature rather than a strength one, and it addresses a real annoyance: a steel-on-steel hanging point creaks on every swing, and in a quiet garden at dusk that is the sound you remember. It is not a reason to choose this stand on its own, but it is the kind of detail most stands in the 600 lb class do not bother with.
The other Tranquillo, and what Bob Vila says about it
Tranquillo sells a second configuration — the Universal Canvas hammock and foldable stand, sold as a set — and Bob Vila named it the best portable set in its 2026 stand roundup. It is a different product from the 600 lb frame: the set publishes no combined capacity, and canvas is heavier than the polyester bed that ships with the adjustable stand. If you want one box with everything in it, the set is the pick. If you already own a hammock, the stand alone is.
There is also a folding camping model, the Uniki, listed at 550 lb. We have not included it as a pick because the listing we verified sits outside the retail channel this site links to, but it is worth knowing it exists if the 600 lb frame is more stand than you need.
Where it is the wrong stand
- If you need to carry it any distance. 26 lb folds but does not disappear. For a stand you genuinely transport, see portable hammock stands and the anymaka review.
- If you want wood. A powder-coated steel frame is a tool. A wooden hammock stand is furniture, and in a planted garden that difference is visible from the house.
- If a 13 ft spreader-bar hammock is the plan. 112.5 in is 9 ft 4 in. A 13 ft rope hammock with extension chains wants a 15 ft frame.
- If you need an independently verified 600 lb. As with every stand we track, the capacity is the published figure, not a third-party test result.
Common questions
How much weight does the Tranquillo hammock stand hold?
600 lb as published, and the listings describe it as a two-person stand. That is the frame only — the hammock on it carries its own rating, and the lower of the two figures is your real limit. No independent load test exists for it, which is normal across this category.
What size is the Tranquillo adjustable hammock stand?
It adjusts from a published 100 x 28.3 x 29.25 in to 112.5 x 32.8 x 39.3 in, so plan on a little over 9 ft 4 in of straight line at the maximum setting and about 2 ft 9 in of width.
Is the Tranquillo hammock stand portable?
It is collapsible and ships with a carry bag, at a published weight of around 26 lb and a published 30-second setup. That is portable between a garden and a car trunk, not portable to a trailhead.
What hammock fits the Tranquillo stand?
Anything that fits inside a 100 to 112.5 in frame length. The set version ships with a two-layer expandable polyester bed adjustable from 23 to 79 in wide with stitched-in spreader bars. A 13 ft rope hammock with extension chains is too long for it.
Tranquillo or Sunnydaze Universal?
Tranquillo if you want the extra 50 lb of published capacity, an adjustable length and a frame that folds. Sunnydaze if the stand is never moving — it publishes 550 lb in powder-coated steel and Bob Vila named it the best overall hammock stand in 2026.
